Top Five Matcha Lattes – Brooklyn/Queens

In no particular order...

  1. Matchaful – Dumbo, Brooklyn(pictured). The popup café, on Jay Street in Dumbo is a must-see! Super cute set up, with a beautifully styled tray where your matcha is placed once its ready for you, giving you the perfect instagram-able moment. The matcha here is top notch too, they actually supply their matcha to over 70 cafés throughout NYC but this is their first independent café experience. You can also shop Matchaful online as well. Sign up for their newsletter, to get 10% off. Oh and you MUST check them out at SMORGUSBURG on either Saturday's in Williamsburg or Sunday's in Park Slope, they create the most beautiful and tasty creations, like this one here.

  2. Takumen – LIC, Queens.Takumen is one of my favorite places to do a "walk by" (like a drive through, but on foot) as they have a walk up window and serve a delicious Matcha lattes, using Matchabar. While Matchabar does have a physical location in Manhattan, I love that I can still get the same amazing product right here in my own hood. P.S. Check out these Matcha Energy Drinks... it's called the "Hustle Original" and I MUST try them! I'm a sucker for good branding and Matchabar is totally nailing it.

  3. Sweetleaf – LIC, Queens. Sweetleaf is like my long time bestie, when it comes to cafés. Since moving to LIC five years ago, I have been a HUGE fan of Sweetleaf, on Center Blvd. (there are multiple locations both in Queens and Brooklyn). In fact we even shot our pregnancy reveal photos there, three years ago. Anyways... Sweetleaf serves up an awesome Matcha latté with almond milk, which isn't super sweet, just how I like it.

  4. Kinship Coffee – Astoria, Queens. Love love love Kinship. TONS of space (check out the room in the back) and they have a Lavender Matcha Lattes, which is not to be missed!

  5. Nippon Cha – Bayside, Queens. Nippon Cha serves authentic ramen noodles and Japanese teas. I know Bayside can be a bit of a trek, but I promise it's worth it–their matcha (and noodles) are amazing!

So tell me, what did I miss?

While there is no shortage of awesome places in Manhattan to get a delicious Matcha (I'll do a round up soon), did I miss any in Queens or Brooklyn that I have to try?
