DIY: Gift Card Presentation
Together with Mode Media, I partnered with Target to bring you this slice of holiday cuteness as part of their #GiftCardCheer campaign. I want to show you how you can gift a Target GiftCard® this holiday season in a totally cool (and easy) way. Oh, and did I mention this little DIY is under $10 and you might even have some of the supplies laying around your house — but if not, there’s always Target.
Did you know that when it comes to the holidays, most people prefer getting gift cards? In fact, according Target, 90% like getting a gift card as a gift for the holidays but only 30% like giving them. This little fact was no surprise to me. I mean, it makes sense — with a gift card, you can get what you want + not have to worry about standing in a returning line come December 26th.
I feel like year after year, my mom will ask me what I want for Christmas + while I would love to be able to give her a carefully curated “wish list”, I simply don't have the time, so I end up usually telling her that gift cards would be amazing! My mom’s response is typically, in her most disappointed voice, “oh, you want a gift card?” Why is that?
I think presentation has so much to do with it. I mean, I get it, gift cards are far from personal, but if you made the presentation special + put a little effort into it, giving a gift card can actually be pretty special. Insert DIY project here!
Supplies:
- Mason jar
- Pom pom bow
- Sparkly ribbon
- Festive candy
- Tape
- Letter sticks (I used cork, but glitter letters would be great too, get creative)
- Cute gift tag
- Target GiftCard®
Directions:
- Fill jar with candy (I used peanut butter + pretzel M&Ms)
- Cut ribbon 5-6” long, then fold in half
- Tape the ribbon to the back of your Target GiftCard®
- Slide Target GiftCard® into the candy
- Place Initials of gift receipt onto the outside of the jar.
- Tie ribbon around the top rim of jar + attach gift tag
- Peel backing off of bow + stick to the top of the lid
See, I told you it would be easy!
So the next time someone tells you they would like a gift card, or if you’re just completely unsure of what to get for that person on your list that is impossible to shop for, grab a gift card + get your DIY on.
