Baby Foodies | Nibble+Squeak
I'm a self-proclaimed foodie + so far my son is following in my footsteps. How many eight month old babies can say they've tried a tasting menu from a James Beard Award-Winning chef? My little guy can! Last friday, Jayden + I attended our first Nibble+Squeak event, along with three of our mama+baby friends. Nibble+Squeak is a unique dinning experience, which hosts food events for babies+their parents at top restaurants. We were lucky enough to attend the latest event at RIDER in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The tasting menu was created by James Beard Award-winning chef Patrick Connolly, highlighting the restaurants focus on vegetables. EVERY dish was absolutely delicious.
-Mushroom Toast, whipped ricotta, rosemary, cured egg yolk -Crab + Mushy Pea Toast, fennel, orange -Chicken Nuggets, bibb lettuce, basil, sambal pickled mustard seeds -Duck Confit + Chard, hoisin, cilantro, scallion
-Tatsoi Salad, coriander, celery, sunflower seeds, cider vinaigrette -Fregola + Turnips, ramps, pistachio pesto, parm
-Gemelli, mushroom bolognese, breadcrumbs, gremolata -Sea Bream + Roasted Veg, bagna cauda, lime -Pork Schnitzel, herbs, pickles, marinated veg, foie rouille
-Lemon Fennel Donuts, creme fraiche
Jayden tried everything on the menu, minus the donut (although I gave him a few licks of the creme). Watching my little champ eat such a diverse assortment of food, makes me a very proud mama. His favorite was the Gemelli (which was actually pretty spicy), but he loved it–just like his mama! My favorites were the Gemelli, the Mushroom Toast + the Fregola.
The food was amazing (our compliments to the chef) + the owner Suzanne was delightful. Food, friends + a trip to Brooklyn all rolled in to way... count us in.
We can't wait for our next Nibble+Squeak event!
