Mary Poppins Family Halloween Costumes

Dressing up as Mary Poppins for Halloween was a dream come true! Ever since I can remember, Mary Poppins has been one of my favorite movies. Between Mary Poppins and The Wizard of Oz, I pretty much watched one or the other every day of my childhood.

We we first deceided to do Mary Poppins this year for our family costume, we were leaning towards doing Mary & Bert in the painting with the boys dressed up as penguins. The penguin costumes were easy to find but Mary’s and Bert were giving us some trouble. I also really LOVE Mary in her traditional state with the parrot umbrella and so we settled there. Me as Mary Poppins, Joe as Bert and the boys as Chimney Sweeps and I wouldn’t be more happy with how it all turned out.

Our costumes were a mix of things we owned and things we amazon primed to put the look together. I DIY’s my hat with flowers from Michael’s and made the chimney swap brooms with wood sticks from Home Depot, black duct tape and black pipe cleaners and the Parrot Topper for my umbrella handle I DIY’s too with felt and a little glue.
