Live Colorfully... | Burano, Italy
If I could dream up a magically island where time stopped + you could live without a care in the world, it would look like Burano, Italy - this place is like a dream. Burano is all about living colorfully (Kate Spade seriously needs to shoot her next campaign here + I would gladly take part in it)! I mean, have you ever seen more colorful houses all lined up in a row? Add in the black + white candy cane poles, to dock you boat + you've got the cutest little town I've ever been too.
Burano is a little island in the Venetian lagoon (Northern Italy) + like Venice, it's a combination of smaller islands all connected together by little bridges, with canals running throughout. Not to be confused with Murano, the other small island in the Venetian lagoon, which is the little island know for its glass blowing. Now, I must warn you... going there ends up taking up at least 1/2 of your day, but it's so worth it. Walking through Burano made me feel like a little kid let lose in candy land, discovering new colors + picturesque moments, around every turn - the trip is so worth it.
On the island there is some great restaurants to eat out, so don't be afraid to stay around + linger a bit, I hear Gatto Nero is delicious. Unfortunately, since we still had so much we wanted to do + taking a gondola ride was at the top of list, we had to make our trip short + get back to the main island, but we did enjoy the most delicious fried calamari before hoping back on the ferry.

Colorful islands, call for colorful dresses! This one, I happened to pick up in Rome at a boutique called Promod, a retailer based in France, similar to a Zara. I don't believe they ship to the US but if you live in the NY area, there are a few locations that you can check out. For my international readers, I include a link to the dress below. As for the scarf, I picked this up from a street vendor in Burano, as it was a little chilly + if we're being honest because it went with the scenery, oh so well. Then there is my tights, which I love... made of silk, these sheer polka dot tights are amazing - I also picked this up in Rome at the BEST store offering tights I've even seen... link below.

By the way, I just realized last night, that my comment section has not been working since I switched over to the new layout. I have to admit, I'm a bit relieved, as I just thought the lack of comments was due to the new layout + maybe it not being as user-friendly (still hoping that has nothing to do with it). Nevertheless, everything should be back up + running today. Comments are working below + automated emails with my RSS feed are back in place (thank God). It sure isn't easy having to play tech support for your on blog... I'll tell you this, blogging would not be possible without google.
